The Department of Oncology of the First Medical Faculty of Charles University Prague is a key member of the Comprehensive Cancer Services Group for
Prague and vicinity. It provides a full scaleof diagnostic and therapeutic care for cancer patients as well as graduate and postgraduate training for medical students, physicians, medical and radiation oncologists and other health professionals. The number of new patients seen annually exceeds 1,200. More than 30,000 patients are in active follow-up. The department provides the outpatient care in the recently refurbished state of art day center. Dedicated inpatient services offer 23 protected beds. Radiation services include high voltage external beam radiation, brachytherapy, and non-cancer radiotherapy. The department currently employs 25 physicians with expertise in medical oncology, radiation oncology, palliative medicine, and supportive care. The department actively participates in various academic and industry sponsored clinical research activities. The department is recognized and accredited by European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) as a Designated Center of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care.
